The Qin dynasty was an era of history in China. It took place around the same time as the Roman empire (250-50 B.C). This era emerged from the warring states period. During the warring states period there was chaos thus the system of beliefs and laws known as legalism was born. Emperor Qin united China through Legalism and formed an organized sovereign. Qin then helped slow down and prevent the incursion of the mongols by building the great wall of China. During his short (49 yrs.) lifetime Qin created an organized coinage system and helped make trade easier. He also ordered a tomb to be created with organized clay statues. This Terra-cotta army became his resting place and is credited for much of our modern knowledge of his era.

During Emperor Qin's era he made his name immortal (and searched for immortality). Some of the wonders we enjoy to today such as his palaces and the great wall were constructed by his era. Historians have learned most of what they know from Qin's Terracotta army. As Qin immortalized his name his search for immortality eventually killed him and with the sudden disorder his kingdom collapsed. After the Qin dynasty collapsed prominent figures in legalism such as Shang Yang were sentenced to death. Today the book Han Fiezi is still read and China is named after Qin himself.
Some important people from this time period were:
Shang Yang- The founder of legalism, put to death after the dynasty fell apart
Emperor Qin- The emperor of china for 20+ years and founder of the Qin dynasty
Han Fiezi- A philosopher if you will, wrote the book Han Fiezi, A.K.A Han Fie
